SYNOPSIS: Political interference in the Avengers‘ activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America (Evans) and Iron Man (Downey). WRITERS: Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (screenplay), Mark Millar (comic book), Joe Simon & Jack Kirby (characters) We agreed that it was the coolest Marvel movie to date because of all the characters that are a part of it Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the. We went to see the movie earlier this week and LOVED it. The good news is, most of them are fun, and there are enough rousing moments to elevate the movie to Marvels top tier. The series’ future is safe in the Russo brothers’ hands.ĬAST: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen , Paul Rudd, Tom Holland This parent review of Captain America: Civil War is brought to you by myself and my 11 year-old, Jack. The bad news is, there are about ten movies going on in 'Captain America: Civil War,' which is at least seven too many. The pace can’t keep its gallop and the fights can’t keep their wallop, but as a convergence and dispersion of all which has come before Civil War is a resounding victory.Ĭivil War is A-grade filmmaking, as confident as it is competent, and a shiny stone in Marvel’s gauntlet. The film pulls many emotional punches, holding back for the sake of those same upcoming films, and the intellectual battle is increasingly shaky, with Captain America at his least heroic yet. With newcomers Black Panther and Spider-Man offering show-stealing highlights, appetites are left whetted for the future, rather than teased for the upcoming meal. Sadly, that is the only thing that spoils the movie.Civil War assembles the Avengers for an all-out all-star battle. Unfortunately and regrettably, the use of strong language prohibits us from presenting the movie with our Dove Seal. A revelation near the conclusion carries quite a wallop for Tony. The movie has a lot of cool scenes, including the one in which Captain America uses his immense strength to prevent a helicopter from taking off. The good news is, most of them are fun, and there are enough rousing moments to elevate the movie to Marvel's top tier. The gang includes not only Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Spider-Man, but also Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch. 10/10 Captain America: Civil War is one of the best in the MCU Venomage03 This movie has a fantastic plot and brings all these characters perfectly on screen. The bad news is, there are about ten movies going on in 'Captain America: Civil War,' which is at least seven too many. I won’t give it away, but I will say he mispronounces Tony Stark’s name, and the result is comedy at its best. In addition, Stan Lee’s customary cameo is laugh-out-loud funny. In fact, when Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) enlarges his size immensely in one sequence, the moment blows Spider-Man away, and his reaction is hilarious, if not a bit crude. Thus, the clash of various Avengers begins.Ī new Spider-Man is introduced in the movie (Tom Holland), and the humorous scenes feature him as well as the other team members. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) believes the Avengers need to be accountable. Captain America (Chris Evans) takes the stand that the Avengers must go where and when they need to go. One of the people who lost his life was a boy who wanted to use his technology skills for mankind. William Hurt plays Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross and, following some collateral damage when the Avengers fight their enemies in a foreign land, he declares they must now answer to the United Nations. “Captain America: Civil War” is an action-packed thriller with the good guys fighting the bad guys and - oh, by the way, the Avengers fight among themselves, too! Therefore, the title “Civil War” is quite appropriate.
